Thank you to David Gordon for telling me more about the shop 'Serendipity' at 118 West Bow.

"Serendipity was Una Mcveigh’s shop.  She used to live in the flat directly above the shop.  The four windows above the shop were for one living room  -  certainly a room with a view all the way down the Grassmarket.

Next time you are passing through the Grassmarket, have a wee look at the bench seat outside the Last Drop where you will see a small plate in memoriam of Una and her shop.

Her estranged (or was it divorced) husband, Patrick, wrote an article every week in The Scotsman on antiques.  He occupied 102 West Bow. I am not sure what that shop was called, or indeed if it had any name."
