Carberry Candles

Dipping candles

This machine uses frames, threaded with a long length of candle wick.  The frame is repeatedly dipped into a tank of hot wax.  Each time the frame is raised, the wax coating on the wick is a little thicker.

When the wax coating is thick enough, the machine is switched off, the frame removed, and the individual candles were cut from the frame.  This machine had been in use for a long time by the company.  It was invented by the present owner's father or grandfather.
