Glen Ogle Viaduct

Winter and Autumn

This is the view looking across the valley to the west from beside the road that climbs up through Glen Ogle from Lochearnhead towards Killin and Crianlarich.

This railway closed many years ago.

Question

Landslide

The viaduct at Glen Ogle now carries just a footpath and cycle track (or did until a landslide occurred in 2004).  Has it re-opened yet?

Answer 1

Thank you to Duncan Buchanan who e-mailed me with the message:

Landslide

"Regarding your query as to whether the cycleway had reopened after landslide last year.

I don't know how long it was closed, but it was certainly open yesterday and very busy with both walkers and cyclists."

Duncan Buchanan, Lenzie, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.   September 19, 2005

Answer 2

Thank you to Duncan Buchanan who e-mailed me with the message:

Landslide

"The landslip in 2004 was on the opposite side of the Glen.  The road was damaged but fixed within a few days.

The cycle way has been open continuously."
