Thank you to John Smith, now living in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland for sending me some photos that have been passed on to him by his Aunt Winnie.

John's Aunt Winnie lived at 21 West Catherine Place from 1926 until 2006. Here she is, standing in the street around 1950.

West Catherine Place

The photograph at the top of this page was taken around 1929, about three years after Winnie moved into the street.

John Smith wrote:

"The kids are from West Catherine Place, Stanhope Place and surrounding area.

My Uncle Tommy Forsyth (Aunt Winnie's brother) is in the middle row, far right

Does anybody know the names of any of the other children in this photo?"

Thank you to John Smith for checking Google Street View (now available for Edinburgh) and discovering that this photo was taken at the northern end of Borthwick Place, on the east side of the street, where the streets joins West Catherine Place.

In this Google Street View, the stones in the wall can be matched exactly against those in this photo at the top of this page, taken about 80 years earlier.
