Mr and Mrs Gregor McLaren wearing ribbons for an excursion. Who might have organised the excursion?

Question

Phil Wilson, who supplied this image explains that it is taken from an excursion of some type that his grandfather and others attended.

Phil says that all those in the picture were wearing ribbons.  He wonders who might have organised the excursion.  Perhaps it  might have been  the Co-op,  a church, or temperance society
