me this photograph of one of the outings that his family took to Cramond.

"I remember
our family trips down to Cramond.
©
We went
across on the ferry to the Dalmeny Estate with my mum and dad,
around the 1950s. The ferryman used to scull the boat across the
River Almond and, depending if the tide was ebbing
or flooding, he would head up or down river
first.
Cramond was a favourite Sunday
outing. We used to go to my aunt's
house in West Granton Road then we all would walk
across the road and down Gypsy Brae - down the
side of the gas works or through
the gas works. There is
still sign of Gypsy Brae now."

"This
photo was about 1949-50
with a near full gathering of the Callaghan Clan. I
see that I'm gripping hard onto my bucket in case my cousin,
Norval, takes it!
I think
this was the day that I fell in the water,
fully clothed, and went home wearing my other
cousins dress. As usual, there's never a pic of
my dad as he is usually behind camera.
I still
have his camera, a Kodak
Vest Pocket. It's on our fireplace. My Uncle
Mike, the Store Milkman for Whitson area,
is in the back row with the glasses."
