"Here is a postcard-size photo of Broughton High School, Class 3A2, taken in 1949.  My wife, then Betty Kernan is in the 2nd front row, 4th from the right.  Her best pal, Evelyn Dick, is in the 2nd front row, 2nd from right.

The Kernan family originally came from County Antrim in the 1800s.  They lived on the south side of Edinburgh then moved to Granton just before World War II.  Jean was brought up in Lower Granton Road."
