View to the West

The large, long building on the right in this photo is the eastern side of the Caledonian Hotel, facing onto Lothian Road.

Behind the hotel, in this photo, are:

-  the spires of St Mary's Cathedral in Palmerston Place

-  the narrow spire of St George's West, in Shandwick Place

The roads leading towards the lower-left corner of this photo are:

-  upper road:  Castle Terrace

-  lower road:  King's Stable Road

The bridge (centre-left), that can be seen better on the enlarged photo, is over the Western Approach Road.  The office with two domes, to the right of the bridge is the Head Office of Standard Life.
