Bristo Parish Church

Location

Bristo Parish Church is in Buckingham Terrace, off Queensferry Road.

I took this photograph, in snowy conditions,  from the front seat on the top deck of a No.19 bus, as it was about to turn left out of Orchard Brae and into Queensferry Road.

Bristo Church has been based in this building since it opened in 1935.

The Church

The Church is briefly described in the book 'The Buildings of Scotland - Edinburgh' (John Gifford et al.)  Here is an extract from the description.

"Large and bold in a thrifty Scandinavian-cum-Dutch-Colonial style (harled walls enriched with stone carving) by William Paterson of Oldrieve, Bell & Paterson, 1932-35."
