Valentine & Sons
Valentine & Sons Ltd were
better known for their postcards, but they also published a number of
small books in the early 1900s. Here is a list of the other
Valentine
books that I know of.

The Book
Nancy from New York, USA, the owner of a copy of this book, 'The Story of the Railway Engine'
tells me:
- This book measures 13 ins x 8 ins (so is much larger
than most Valentine books for children).
- It is No B608 in the Valentine 'Book Toy' series.
- The wheels spin, and on the front cover, there is also a connecting rod
that moves.

Published when?
Nancy would like to know more
about when this book was published and its value now.
The style of the 4-2-0 engine on this illustration suggests to me that
the book might have been published around the 1920s.
There may well be a anothe clue to the date published in the note on
the title page:
'Valentine & Sons, Ltd, Dundee & London
Branches - Cape Town, Melbourne, Toronto, etc.' |
